For Water Diplomacy and Cooperation across the Euro-Mediterranean

The Network of Italian UNESCO Chairs at the Euromediterranean Water Forum in Rome

On October 2, 2026, ReCUI – the Network of Italian UNESCO Chairs – participated in the Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum, scheduled to take place in Rome from September 29 to October 2.

The event brought together institutions, the scientific community, civil society, and businesses to address the major challenges related to water security in the Mediterranean: from water scarcity to urban resilience, and from cross-border cooperation to innovation.

ReCUI’s participation provided an opportunity to share the insights and expertise gained by the Italian UNESCO Chairs in their respective fields of research, education, and international cooperation. At the same time, it aimed to highlight the Network’s role as a space for dialogue and shared action, capable of connecting knowledge, institutions, and regions on issues of global significance.

Led by spokesperson Andrea Lenzi, ReCUI thus renewed its commitment to contributing, through an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach, to the development of sustainable solutions to water and development challenges in the Euro-Mediterranean context.
